Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to shop in our online shop buramshop.de. In line with section 14 and Annex 3 of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG), this statement describes how the shop works, how it meets the accessibility requirements and where limitations remain.

Our service

Through buramshop.de, Buram GmbH sells honey, fruit spreads, tahini halva and gift boxes to consumers. The shop is available in German, English and Turkish. This is how an order works:

  1. You find products through the menu, the category pages or the search. Every product page states the price, the unit price, the net quantity and the delivery terms.
  2. You add products to the cart. There you can change the quantity or remove products.
  3. At checkout you enter your address and choose a shipping method and a payment method. You do not need a customer account.
  4. After you place the order, you receive a confirmation by email.

How the shop meets the requirements

The benchmark is the European standard EN 301 549. For websites it refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.

  • Keyboard: Every function of the shop can be used without a mouse. A “Skip to content” link jumps past the navigation. Menus and the cart open with the Enter key and close with Escape.
  • Visible focus: The element the keyboard is currently on has a clear outline.
  • Text alternatives: Product and content images have a description. Purely decorative images are skipped by screen readers. Prices, unit prices and product details are text on the page, not only part of an image.
  • Video: The video on the home page has no sound and contains no information that is not also given as text. If your device is set to “Reduce motion”, the page shows a still image instead of the video.
  • Structure: Every page has one main heading and a structured order of headings. The language of each page is marked up so that screen readers read it correctly.
  • Forms: Every input field has a visible label.
  • Contrast: Body text, links and buttons have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
  • Zoom: The pages adapt to the screen width down to 320 pixels, so they stay readable without horizontal scrolling even at high magnification.

Known limitations

  • Some small labels in capital letters (such as the lines above headings and the “Since 1954” notes), the unit price and the language buttons that are not selected have a contrast ratio between 3.0:1 and 3.8:1. The note below the newsletter sign-up and the bottom footer line reach 4.1:1.
  • Checkout is provided by our shop system, Shopify. The payment windows, for example from PayPal or Klarna, come from the respective providers. We have only limited influence on their design.

If one of these limitations keeps you from reaching information, we are happy to help by email or phone.
